Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, according to transfer expert Mike Brown. Rogers, who joined Villa midway through the 2023/24 season, played a key role in helping the team secure a Champions League spot by finishing in the top four. Although Villa didn’t repeat the same success the following season, the 22-year-old still delivered an impressive performance with 14 goals and 13 assists across 54 games in all competitions.

Mike Brown, speaking to Football Insider, mentioned that Aston Villa are facing financial difficulties and may need to sell players to stay within financial regulations. This situation has caught Arsenal’s attention, and they are expected to monitor it closely, especially with Rogers being a player of interest.

Arsenal are looking for a player with energy and ball-carrying ability, something Rogers offers and something the current squad, aside from Declan Rice, lacks. Despite his strengths, there are questions about whether Rogers fits into Mikel Arteta’s tactical setup. Although he is naturally an attacking midfielder and can fill in on the left wing, he isn’t considered a specialist in wide areas.

With Arsenal’s midfield already stacked with talent, it may be difficult for Rogers to secure a place in that part of the pitch. And since he’s not a pure winger, he may not be the ideal solution for strengthening Arsenal’s options on the left flank.

Brown noted that Rogers has been performing well for Villa and even earned a call-up to the England squad. His style of play aligns with what Arsenal are looking for, which includes drive, energy, and the ability to advance the ball. If he becomes available, several top clubs could be interested in signing him. However, there are still some uncertainties about where exactly he would fit into Arsenal’s team.

Rogers has become a key player for Villa and any decision to sell him wouldn’t come easily or cheaply. He is under contract until 2030, and Transfermarkt currently values him at around £47 million, giving Villa a strong negotiating position. Despite the high cost, Rogers is a talented and versatile forward with significant potential, and securing him would be a major win for Arsenal if they decide to move forward with the deal this summer.
